May 2018

We cut and sew, we knot and tie
To make a sleeping bag for a homeless guy
We laugh and talk, then swap ideas
Of how women could end all worldly fears!

Sweaters, gloves, hats, scarves go inside with
The “goodie pack”
We rest assured that not one will be coming back.
The finished bags stay here or go off to Ithaca, Cortland,
Syracuse they go.

Where folks, homeless or cold, put them to good use
We’re told.
As we roll each bag when it is done,
We all lay our hands on it and pray as one,
That whomever receives this gift of love and care
Is remembered by someone, sometime, somewhere.
We are known as the Bag Ladies or Ugly Quilters (believe it or not)
And join others from near and far, but in the end,
My Brothers’ Keeper is who we really are.

Congratulations to the Dryden Bag Ladies, from Dryden NY,  for 25 years of dedication to helping our homeless neighbors.

March 2018

Spring is the start of our next winters’ work.

It’s a great time to clean up the storage room and plan for any new ideas you or your group might be thinking about.

Do a follow up on seasonal workshops like Camps, Vacation Bible School, or Scouts. Speak to community groups about donating funds to help with deliveries. Encourage new groups to schedule dates for fall workshops. And, ask independent sewers to make the 7’ (seven foot) square sleeping bag tops out of your donated materials and supplies.

Whenever you can, start a new group.
Remember : “Where Two or More Are Gathered”.
Thank You for all you have done to help our Homeless Neighbors this year. All life is precious in the Sight of GOD. Your efforts are never wasted when you help to keep someone from freezing to death.
