March 2012

Last year, our neighbors have again been very faithful in making the sleeping bags. We have made and delivered 4700 of them right here in the northeast. Our thanks to all who have contributed in every way.

It appears we have lost many good and long term helpers. They are Men and women who have truly cared about the plight of the homeless.

We remember women like Dorothy Miller, who was our very first volunteer.

When we made eight Ugly Quilts as a family on our kitchen table the first year, people began to ask about what we were doing. I put a simple six dollar ad in the local Pennysaver and Dorothy responded. This week we lost Dorothy. Our hearts are heavy. We will miss her.

Our hope is that we see schools, camps, Scouts, colleges and churches, teaching the young people about community service and we know they will grow in their experiences. We are seeing the beginning of a new generation of young people reaching out to those in need. May GOD bless them in their growth and compassion towards our homeless neighbors.
