April 2011

“Nolan” called Hop Bottom, Pa.  from San Francisco today. He found the Sleeping Bag Project on the internet at the shelter he was staying in. He asked if he could get a sleeping bag and I asked him if he was homeless. He said yes. He mentioned that he was staying in a homeless day shelter and could really use one.

I asked his first name and if he had access to a phone. I would call him back. I told him that I would call him with whatever information I could find as to who in the area could help get him a sleeping bag. I searched our database and found one contact, but she was unable to help because she had become disabled. I turned to the internet to find area churches that may have groups making the sleeping bags. Each contact I made said that they do not make sleeping bags but would like to see the video.  I finally called Nolan back with my disappointing news.

If someone is out there that wants to help the homeless by organizing an Ugly Quilt Group, please contact me. There are a lot more “Nolans” out there that need your help.
